Home Staging Websites – Why SEO Matters

Let’s first begin with a definition SEO:

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and is defined by Wikipedia as:

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in search engines via the “natural” or un-paid (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results. In general, the earlier (or higher ranked on the search results page), and more frequently a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine’s users.

“Improving the visibility of a website or a web page” is a critical component when we create a website for a home stager (or anyone looking for an SEO-rich website).

It’s one thing to have a beautiful website but unless your site appears on the first page of the search engines (i.e., Google), you’ll be hard pressed to get clients. Rarely will a visitor go beyond page 1.

At Easy Designer Websites, we understand the importance and do all that it takes to help you get positioned.

Is Your Current Home Staging Website Impressive?

If not, it should be. Your home staging website needs to truly represent YOU and your work.

Why is this important? Well… yesterday, after having met with a big builder in the Southeast, I was asked if I could assist in finding GREAT stagers in the following cities: Nashville, Charlotte, Raleigh, Birmingham and Jacksonville.  Anxious to please, I went searching and here’s what I found:

  • Stock photos – It was obvious, too obvious. It’s important to set the correct expectation right up front. The use of stock photos sets an expectation that YOU did, or can, create a similar look and feel.
  • Missing names – Yes. On some of the websites I found on the Internet, I couldn’t find the name of the owner. Instead, I found lots of pages with the company name. While having your company name on your website is important, having your name is equally important.
  • Missing phone numbers - While having an email address is important, so is having your phone number. In fact, it should be on every single page.
  • Missing portfolios – Quite a few website had zero before and after pictures. Some didn’t have either and instead had a bunch of words. While content, in the form of verbiage is important, so are photos. For those that were missing portfolios, I elected to pass and move on to the next.

In summary, your home staging website needs to impress your potential client. At Easy Designer Websites, we help make that process easier.
